Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner review

If you’ve read my post about popular skincare products for oily skin you should already know this toner is like a must have for Korean women with oily skin, pores troubles and pimples.

Some of my followers asked me to review this toner so even though I have dry skin I said why not.
I actually tried this toner on myself, since I have pore troubles and blackheads, and two of my friends who have oily skin and pimples.
We compared our thoughts on this toner and we pretty much agreed on everything, especially on how amazing this toner is.

If you’ve never heard about the Wonder Pore Freshner, let me tell you a little bit about it :

It’s a 7 in 1 solution for combination to oily skin.

  • Deep cleanse pores
  • Maintain ph 4.5 (who cares?)
  • Control sebum
  • Minimize pores
  • Refine skin tones
  • Keep the elasticity of pores
  • Moisture inside and outside of skin (mmh…?…)

Anyway, this toner is an amazing skincare product for every skintypes with pores/blackheads/pimples troubles.

I am seriously not able to describe the fragrance of this toner at all, this is crazy. I don’t even know if it smells bad or good, since it’s so strange. It smell like alcohol, flowers and I don’t even know what.
It’s not overwhelming at all so I don’t really mind.

The texture is liquid, just like a normal toner, but feels a little bit sticky on the skin until it is absorbed.
Since it contains moisturizing ingredients, this toner doesn’t give a tight feeling and isn’t drying either.

According to Etude House you can put the toner in a mist type container and just spray your face whenever you want.
I personally won’t do it because I don’t need it but if you have oily skin this might be a great option whenever you need to refresh your face.

The good part…

It does an amazing job at minimizing pores size, reducing blackheads and controlling sebum/oil without irritating the skin .
I usually can’t use oily skins products since I have sensitive skin but I didn’t notice any bad side effect like a tingling sensation or anything with this toner, which is great because it means it fits sensitive skins as well.

It reduced my blackheads and pores size effectively within two weeks, but also my redness a little bit. My nose is a lot smoother than before and I can’t feel any “bumps” like I could feel before.

Lately, because of the very dry and cold weather, my nose area was super irritated and my skin kept peeling and fortunately for me the moisturizing ingredients in this toner actually made my nose definitely smoother and less irritated.

The bad part…

Honestly? None.
Maybe the scent but honestly it’s not a big deal at all.

Overall…

This toner might be the holy grail for all troubled skins. It really does fit all skintypes including sensitive ones so don’t be afraid to use it even if you have a dry sensitive skin.
I am definitely going to get a new bottle once I’ll finish this one!

I love your blog!!! Your blog is so full of details and I absolutely LUV it! But I’m wondering if you coild heko me out a little… I am a 16 year old with super sensitive skin. I get pimples every now and then but very manageable but my skin is really oily… are there any product lines you would recommend for a teenager on a budget of SGD50? >.<

    Hi Hye Mi!

Thanks for the wonderful reviews! I have been having lots of fun reading your reviews and knowing what’s good in the market right now ^^
However, can I just ask, would you recommend this toner or Innisfree’s Jeju Volcanic Pore Toner for super oily skins? If I’m not wrong my skin condition is really oily highly likely due to dehydration since I live in Singapore where the climate is REALLY humid and I don’t use moisturisers. This is why my face gets really really oily when the day passes and pimples….. πŸ™
Which toner would you recommend for skin types like mine? πŸ™‚ or should I continue with Innisfree’s Jeju Volcanic Pore Toner?

Thank you so much for your patience and reading my question!! ^^

Hi! I read that you don’t really like Etude House for skincare line. May I ask what brand you liked the most especially the once you’ve already tried πŸ™‚ Thanks! ^^

    • Hye Mi (author)

Hello there! My favorite brand is Hera, I also love Laneige and Innisfree. πŸ™‚
Well I don’t really dislike Etude House’s skincare products but in my opinion they’re only good for teens and young adults (< 22 years old), that's why I don't use them at all. πŸ™‚

      • nunu

any recommend mask from innisfree or laneige for trouble skin?

        • Hye Mi (author)

          Hello Nunu,

You can find what you’re looking for here.

  • Dexan

Hi! I really love reading your reviews. I just want to ask, today I bought etude house skin mal:gem emulsion. Is it okay if i use this wonder pore freshner before using my mal:gem emulsion?

    • Hye Mi (author)

      Hi Dexan!

Yes of course you have to use the wonder pore BEFORE the emulsion. πŸ™‚
The wonder pore will deep cleanses your pores while the emulsion will acts as a cream and moisture your skin, if you apply the wonder pore after applying your emulsion it might take it off at least a little bit. :/

The ph of 4.5 for your face is important because you need to balance the acidity of your skin. If your skin ph is is not around 4.5 then there will be bacteria growth and a higher chance of getting more acne.

    • Hye Mi (author)

Good to know, thank you for the info Dita! πŸ™‚

  • Wendy

Hi, just wanted to say that the pH 4.5 is to maintain the skin’s pH, which is 4.5-5.5 (proper pH is critical because it reduces likelihoods of bacterial infections etc.)

That being said, on top of all the great things about this product, it’s also pretty good for its price point… at 500mL for $20, it’s like… 1/2 the price of my other toners!!

  • Carrie

I have been using this product for 2 months, and it makes my pores shrink and less pimples and whiteheads . I use it as toner and I also dab it on my pimples. After applying pore fresher I spray (Avene Thermal Spring Water) onto my face, it will lock up the moisture. After 2 months of doing this my pimples and whiteheads cleared up a little and no major breakouts ! Avene is a good product from France.

  • Evan Grace

is this also good for teenage like me who have pimples?

    • Hye Mi (author)

It does a great job on blackheads but not on pimples unfortunately. You might want to try out an anti pimples toner instead. πŸ™‚

  • Stina

Is it good for sensitive skin? πŸ™‚

    • Hye Mi (author)

Yes! I have a sensitive skin and it didn’t irritate my skin at all. πŸ˜‰

      • Evan Grace

is it also good for oily skin?

        • Anonymous

Yes, it work well on oily skin. I have oily skin and this toner do wonders for me. I usually use it at night.

  • Quynh dao

I have oily skin, including acne and a lot of blackheads. I was wondering if there are any sets of skin care products that would fit my skin. I’m also on a low budget so I wan something that is cheap for a teenager.
    Thanks!

    • Hye Mi (author)

Could you let me know your budget please? It will be easier for me to tell you which lines to pick. πŸ˜‰

hello. have you had any reactions to this after you started using it(i.e. small red bumps, or developing pimples?

    • Hye Mi

      Hi!
Nope, I didn’t notice any bad effect.

Did it happen to you? (the red bumps)

      • Milla mae

        Yes

    • Angeli

OMG πŸ™ I think this product was the reason why I am suffering with acne now. I used this every night before however now not anymore. I just noticed that after weeks of using this wonder pore “small red bumps or developing pores” – exactly as you described, were slowly and slowly appearing on my face. But because I thought those were caused by other factors like hormonal imbalance or poor diet and that I strongly believed that this toner will work wonders & “might” help get rid of the small red bumps,I still continued it. Unfortunately the small red bumps turn into pimples, so many of them! I was so depressed that I tried to pick on them which resulted into scars! I completely stopped using this now, and currently other skin care products to help remedy my troubled face. I’m surfing etude house’s AC CLINIC DAILY line as well as Proactiv too! I’m so depressed because of this! I never experienced anything like this before, never in my life, until now :((

      • Laura

This happened to me too! My roommate swears by this toner so I asked her to get me a big bottle of it. After using it for a couple of weeks, I noticed that I started developing small pimples on cheeks and I stopped using a few things but they grew larger and some started to hurt. I finally realized it was the toner, and I immediately stopped using it. My skin slowly started getting better but damn was it a pain to get it back on track.

hello can men use this too? teenage men?

    • MeowS

I recommend the Ac daily toner by etude house

  • Anonymous

    • Giepo

      Honestly don’t think that it matters… Shouldn’t be a problem though (:

  • CΓ©line

I like etude house makeup but I have never really enjoyed their skincare line ): I have tried this toner but it didn’t really do anything for my pores sadly ;__; I couldn’t bring myself to finish the bottle but seeing that it worked for you I really want to give it a go again ! It’s amazing that it worked for you ! I’ll tell you the results after I use it again for a while hehe~
    Thanks for reviewing (:

    • Hye Mi (author)

I never liked Etude House skincare as well, this is the only product I liked so far. πŸ™‚

      • Klaudia

It have alcohol in ingredients. I scared that it will be dry out my skin. Can you recommend another tonic without alcohol?

        • Hye Mi (author)

It’s moisturizing enough even with alcohol, don’t worry.
