Athletic Greens vs Supergreen TONIK superfood battle

Athletic Greens vs SuperGreen TONIK: Superfood Battle of David against Goliath

There has been a growing demand for a comparison of my SuperGreen TONIK brand with popular brand Athletic Greens.

Both brands take a different approach with their choice and number of ingredients and the transparency in terms of full disclosure labeling.

SuperGreen TONIK is up against the heavyweight of the greens market, Athletic Greens who have been around for 10 plus years now. This is very much a case of David vs Goliath in the greens health space.

So let’s compare Athletic Greens Vs SuperGreen TONIK to see which one can give you the ultimate fuel for body and mind – will it be David or Goliath?

What is Athletic Greens?

Athletic Greens is credited as one of the pioneering brands to push green superfood powders into consumers.

It claims to be the ultimate daily supplement thanks to its comprehensive formula of 75 ingredients. Taken each day it’s promoted to be the easiest way to cover all your nutritional bases.

Having been on the market since 2010, Athletic Greens has a loyal following that also includes well-known personalities like Tim Ferriss and Joe Rogan.

The company continues to innovate by tweaking its formula over the years to ensure the most up-to-date ingredients are used.

What is SuperGreen TONIK

This brand is a relative newcomer to the greens powder scene, one that I have developed from the ground up to be everything I wanted in a daily health supplement.

My criteria were simple, a greens powder that supplied a potent source of greens and adaptogenic herbs to promote not only health and well-being but to boost both cognitive and immune function too.

Having suffered from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for 25 years I wanted the ultimate nutritional insurance to support my diet and combat my low immune system and frequent brain fog (you can read my story here).

After researching most of the popular greens superfoods, even trying over 40 of them, I knew what would work and what wouldn’t. SuperGreen TONIK is the result of my research.

  • Packed with 38 ingredients in clinical dosages to fuel your body and mind
  • Full transparency labelling – know what you’re taking
  • 365-day money-back guarantee
  • Refreshing and tasty in water or smoothies

  • Not the most affordable

Athletic Greens Vs. SuperGreen TONIK Benefits

Athletic Greens

This is the one of most popular daily greens as it’s marketed as a comprehensive all-in-one daily supplement. You can see from the big list of ingredients that also include digestive enzymes and both prebiotics and probiotics.

It certainly is a great choice for an all-round supplement as it offers a great source of vitamins and minerals, more than most multi-vitamins you find at your local supermarket.

We don’t know how potent each ingredient is due to the proprietary blends though unlike SuperGreen TONIK that shows all the ingredient amounts on the label.

SuperGreen TONIK

Originally developed for myself to combat periods of poor nutrition and to be a pick-me-up on days when feeling low on energy or my immune system was under strain. It’s become my daily staple as I like to know I am supporting both short and longer-term health – I love the taste too!

Most greens neglect or underplay brain ingredients in their formula, SuperGreen TONIK splits the formula into a green, brain and immune blend, which is why it’s marketed as the ultimate fuel for both body and mind.

These greens are developing a loyal customer base from customers who are drawn to transparency with labeling and a focus on ingredient dosing.

Athletic Greens Vs SuperGreen TONIK Ingredients

Athletic Greens

The formula here contains a huge number of 75 ingredients that are divided amongst four proprietary blends. So, whilst we can see the weight of each blend we are in the dark as to the quantity of each ingredient in the blend.

Unfortunately, this practice is the case for most greens powders who wish to “hide” the formula. I personally really dislike this practice as it makes it impossible to work out if the dosages are in insufficient amounts.

The serving size is comparable between both Athletic Greens and SuperGreen TONIK with each scoop being 12 grams. The focus for this brand is very much on providing as many ingredients as possible into the formula.

In contrast here, the formula contains 15 ingredients and 18 vitamins and minerals. They are split into three separate blends focusing on different key areas; Greens blend, Nootropic blend, and Immune blend.

The nootropic blend of ingredients is a powerful carefully selected group of ingredients known to support increased focus and concentration along with helping to reduce anxiety and stress. The net effect of these is to reduce brain fog and increase brain health.

I wanted to be fully transparent and reveal the exact breakdown of each ingredient in the blend and so ALL ingredient amounts are disclosed.

This means it’s easy to check that the dosing is sufficient to support the claims made by SuperGreen TONIK.

A quick glance at the label and the dosages of the key ingredients of Spirulina, Chlorella, Ashwagandha, Rhodiola Rosea, Gingko Bilbo, etc are shown in the minimum effective dosages.

Athletic Greens Vs SuperGreen TONIK Taste

Athletic Greens

For me, Athletic Greens is one of the best tasting greens powders that I have tried over the last 18 months!

To get around the issue of greens tasting like grass both of the formulas use Stevia Leaf extract, which is a natural sweetener that has zero calories. This is an acquired taste and some consumers struggle with this sweetener, for me, I enjoyed the taste.

SuperGreen TONIK

When I started working on the taste of Green TONIK I knew it was up against stiff competition with regards to Athletic Greens.

For 100% transparency here I believe we got pretty close, but have to bow to the high bar set by Athletic Greens.

The fresh minty slightly sweet taste of SuperGreen TONIK is enjoyable and palatable with just cool water. It’s refreshing and most consumers really like it, some rave about it and can’t believe it can be so healthy for you!

Athletic Greens Vs SuperGreen TONIK Cost

Athletic Greens

Both of these brands are at the premium end of the market, but deciding to go for the Athletic Greens monthly subscription reduces your cost to around $2.90 per day.

Many customers may be unaware that there is a shipping cost to add to the monthly $77 cost of the greens, likewise when you opt for the one-off $97 option.

This makes the serving cost range from $2.90 to $3.56.

SuperGreen TONIK

There is no subscription option available yet with SuperGreen TONIK and instead, there are options to buy the tubs in bundles of one, three, or five.

The starter tub is $87, three tubs for $217, and five tubs for $317.

Better Ingredients. No Proprietary Blends. From as low as $2.09 per day (multi-bundle packages)

Buying the larger bundles will give significant savings that means the daily serving cost can be as low as $2.09.

It’s worth noting that all USA orders have free shipping too, so there are no additional costs at the checkout (International orders do have shipping costs).

Athletic Greens Vs SuperGreen TONIK: Which is Better?

Both these brands have something great to offer for anyone looking to cover their nutritional bases each day with ease by consuming a glass of great-tasting greens.

The reason I developed SuperGreen TONIK instead of just taking Athletic Greens is that I prefer to go with a supplement with fewer ingredients with full disclosure labeling . This way I am confident that I am consuming the right dosages of each for maximum effectiveness.

I like the fact that the choice of ingredients in SuperGreen TONIK is focused on greens, the brain, and the immune system. Every ingredient is in the formula for a reason.

In terms of cost, with the free USA shipping and option to buy multi-tubs SuperGreen TONIK works out significantly cheaper than Athletic Greens.

When combined with the one-year money-back guarantee, SuperGreen TONIK I believe is the better option.

To pick a winner over Athletic Greens or SuperGreen TONIK I would of course pick my brand, I drink it every day. I developed the brand with the benefit of hindsight, knowing exactly what I would want from a top greens brand, and I believe we achieve it.

  1. How many probiotics are in your drink? I’m surprised you advertise it as having probiotics but don’t list the amount.

    1. Hi Jenny,
We do not have any probiotics inside SuperGreen TONIK. This may seem unusual considering many greens powders do contain them, but there is a good reason for this. Probiotics are very delicate ingredients and are not very stable when mixed with many ingredients in a formula. This means the effectiveness of probiotics when combined with many ingredients is put into question. We wanted to ensure we only put in ingredients that we know can have a positive health benefit and that was why we decided not to put this in there just for “window dressing”.
