We all love getting something extra, don’t we? Like a free refill or a buy-one-get-one-free, the idea that we can have value-added benefits without paying more is really alluring when it comes to making consumer choices.
So what if I tell you I’ve come across a product that promises all the health benefits of the best greens powder blend, plus it aids weight loss?
It seems like a pretty good deal, right?
The product I’m talking about is called Skinny Greens Green Juice Powder, and it is made by the people who brought us one of the original detox tea products, Skinny Fit.
I want to see if this is really one of those extra-value adding products and what the added special ingredients are that would make this Skinny Fit Greens something to really shout about.

Skinny Fit Skinny Greens First Impressions
Claiming that it ‘boosts energy, increases mental clarity, reduces bloating, soothes inflammation, and promotes healthy digestion and weight loss’ this certainly sounds to be a product that would fulfill a whole spectrum of consumer needs (and desires), but how have the team behind Skinny Greens come up with this magical formula? And what is in it?
True to their brand when we first look at the packet and product information we see the caloric value is written large (20 calories per portion) so this immediately appeals to anyone who is on a calorie-reduced regime.
The whole idea of the branding and the packaging seems to be around appealing to women (the color scheme is a very bright fuchsia pink) and the pictograms on the website show waist-slimming, calming, skin-brightening benefits (among others).

Background on Skinny Fit Inc
Skinny Fit’s tagline is ‘Where Healthy is Gorgeous’ and they are a health and wellness brand whose mission is to help women reach their goals through nurturing their bodies. I had a long search around their website and sadly found no further information – even under their Company section under the FAQs of their site – about their corporate story.
Unfortunately, the products they became best-known for (detox teas) have come under fire recently and this may be the reason they are minimizing exposure around their story or company formation history.
Among detox tea and super greens powders, products in the range now include Collagen Peptides, red juice superfoods powder, workout supplements, post-workout powder, cravings-suppressants, probiotic digestive support products, and hair, skin, and nails supplements.
The range is indeed inclusive and really reaches out to female consumers on a whole-wellness level. It also suggests that the target consumer is body-and-health-conscious, with an interest in optimal nutrition for overall wellness.
Skinny Greens Superfood Ingredients
The original blend of Skinny Greens Green Juice Superfood Powder (Green Apple flavor) contains ‘34 essential superfoods, stress-relieving adaptogens, & pre and probiotics for all of the daily nutrients your body needs and craves’.
The ingredients are broken down into specific blends (with the overall weight of one serve being one 8.2g scoop):
- Wholesome Superfood Blend (3405mg): Lemon juice powder, Organic Chlorella Powder, Organic Spirulina Powder, Spinach leaf, Organic Wheatgrass Powder, Organic Matcha (leaves), Alfalfa powder (aerial parts), Organic Moringa Leaf Powder, Artichoke extract (leaves)
- Gut Renewing Probiotic Blend (2530mg): Acacia fiber, Bromelain, Amylase, Lactase, Cellulase, Protease, Lipase, Probiotic blend (500 million CFU) Bifidobacterium lactis, B. breve, B. longum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, L. casei, L. plantarum, L. paracasei, L. salivarius, L. rhamnosus, L. bulgaricus
- Mood-boosting Adaptogen Blend (670mg): Coconut water powder, Turmeric root powder, Ashwagandha root, Ginseng root, Rhodiola mushroom powder
- Waist-Slimming Blend (320mg): Glucomannan root, Green tea leaf extract, Apple cider vinegar
How Does Skinny Greens Taste?
Skinny Greens comes in a Green Apple flavor, which some consumers like and others find disgusting. As is the challenge with any powder supplement, the taste is a big component so if you can’t stand the taste then you have two options.
Either try to find a drink you can take it in, or alternatively most likely need to find an alternative product or flavor.
The FAQs page on the website claims that you shouldn’t experience any side effects, and this will of course depend on how used to taking super greens your body and digestion are.
Most people will experience a minor change to their digestive habits, regardless of the precise ingredients, on the first time taking super greens powders as a drink. This is because the digestive system needs to deal with an increase in plant fibers, fruit and vegetable acids, and potentially probiotics too. This normally balances out after a number of days of taking the product as directed.
Does Skinny Greens Actually Work?
Firstly, it’s important to note that an average ‘scoop’ size of super greens powders varies between 8-14g. This means in a serving of Skinny Greens you could be getting up to 5g less of everything put together than a competitor product with a larger scoop size.
This is the reason why in my greens powder I went with a 12-gram serving size. The fact is you often need at least 1 gram or more of an ingredient to have many benefits.
This small serving notwithstanding, let’s look at the actual ingredients. While seemingly cramming a lot into a serving, there are actually not as many ingredients (nor in as high quantities) as competitor brands.
- Slim down – reduce bloating, reduce fat mass, curb cravings
- Enhance energy – amplify energy levels, supercharge vitality
- Increased mental clarity, decreased stress – clear brain fog, reduce stress
- Clear, revitalized skin – clear, glowing complexion, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial
It’s clear that for Skinny Fit, the main aim of Skinny Greens is to deliver weight loss, whilst also enabling consumers to enhance their nutritional intake every day. This, for me, is distinctly different from taking a superfoods blend purely for the nutritional benefits.
The main ingredients of Skinny Greens, in my opinion, that may have the above effects are Spirulina, Chlorella, Matcha, Spinach, Turmeric, Ashwagandha.
(Glucomannan is a type of dietary fiber that has been incorporated into weight-loss products but my research revealed that it is yet to be proven medically effective).
Because Skinny Greens gives us only the total weight of each proprietary blend rather than each individual ingredient, it is difficult for me to verify what the received benefit for someone taking Skinny Greens would be. Spirulina is recommended in a dose between 1-8g daily (source), for antioxidant and / or metabolic benefits.
Chlorella, similarly, is recommended at around 2g daily (source).
Ashwagandha, which is known for its anxiolytic properties, has been recommended at around 500-600mg daily (source).
Ashwagandha root is a very promising ingredient and I suggest taking a look at supplements that provide the minimum dosages per serving in my round-up here.
The overall weight of the superfood blend is 3.4g. The total weight of the mood-boosting adaptogen blend is only 0.67g.
For me, this proprietary formula is frustrating. I’m already discovering that there is not really enough of the more powerful plant ingredients for me in this blend.
Skinny Greens Customer Reviews
I have got three balanced reviews from actual customers for Skinny Greens from both the official website and Amazon.
This stuff is incredible and tastes great too! It’s so easy to use, I put it in my water bottle and I’m out the door! I’ve lost quite a bit of weight, bloating is gone and I feel more focused during the day. From the website, Danielle G, 51, says
I bought this product because some of the reviews said it tasted delicious. It’s disgusting to me. Most times I gag while drinking it, but I will finish it because it was so expensive for the little bottle. I’m not consistent with using this because of the taste. I’m looking for a comparable product to replace this. If I can’t find a comparable one, I still won’t buy this again. From Amazon.com, Dawn
It tastes ok. Leaves an after taste. I’ve had worse tasting things to drink. I have had 1 drink so far. I will update after a few drinks and see if it helps with anything.Lizzie L
Money Back Guarantee / Returns Policy

Where to Buy Skinny Greens?
Unfortunately, Skinny Fit Skinny Greens is currently out of stock on their website, you can still buy from Amazon sellers but there are mixed reviews about the state of the product so beware.
Is It Worth the Price?
Skinny Greens is currently out of stock so it is difficult for me to assess the cost compared to other products on the market. Amazon sellers seem to have the price market at around $70 per tub, which makes it a very expensive product for a 30-day supply.
I think it will be appealing to those consumers who expect to see sudden results in weight-loss, and if you are looking to drink Skinny Greens simply as a Greens blend it doesn’t really match up to other big-hitters, in my opinion.
It all comes down to the blend. I feel that if you want to have a real nutritional heavy-hitter, this isn’t quite cutting it. But if you are aiming for weight-loss and you actually want to take Skinny Greens to aid your nutritional intake whilst dieting, you will be looking for different results.
The Bottom Line
For me, I would probably prefer to take two distinctly different products for different needs. I think there are better Super Greens products out there that provide a much better spectrum of ingredients in one dose, with higher dosages of powerful ingredients in the blend.
I also feel a little conflicted about the weight-loss aspect.
If I’m going on a weight-loss spree, I prefer to follow a diet-based regimen that incorporates some exercise, rather than adding in specific weight-loss ‘aids’, which unfortunately means I would be unlikely to buy a product like Skinny Fit Skinny Greens.
If you feel it hits all your needs, you may find that it is better for you to just take one particular product, and you might not be as concerned as I am about the amounts in the blend.
The branding is great, it really appeals to its fans and those who already buy the Skinny Fit teas, but for me this is one Greens blend I won’t be sticking with.
LifeHacker Guy Greens Recommendation
Please give me a few moments to shamelessly introduce my brand, SuperGreen TONIK.
I have researched a lot (and I mean a lot) of super greens out there but was disappointed with most of the ones I tried.
In conjunction with some of the worlds leading nutrition experts, I developed a greens supplement that actually does what it promises to do. Full transparency, No hidden ingredients and certainly no BS.
None of the other brands offered that.
Its the best out there (of course I would say that about my own), but let me tell you why...
- No hidden ingredient amounts - we have full disclosure labelling, so you know EXACTLY whats inside
- Ingredient amounts that make a difference - we include the minimum effective amounts supported by research, and most of the time, MORE
- Ingredients that also boost mental clarity and shake off brain fog - making for a much more productive and happy lifestyle
After many months I finally got a greens formula that fuels my body and mind for the day ahead.
But please dont JUST take my word for it, make up your own decision by checking out my review. (I TRY BE AS UNBIASED AS POSSIBLE )
