My love affair with Su:m37 began around two years ago, when the Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick came onto the blogging scene. It was the must-have skincare product amongst Korean-beauty fans, and the more I kept seeing it everywhere the more intrigued I became until it eventually found its way upon my skincare stash. Since then, my collection has grown and I have been so impressed with everything I’ve tried from Su:m37, it’s no surprise I’ve decided to share my love for the brand with you.
Having said this, Su:m37 is definitely a leading brand in the Korean beauty world with an amazing array of skincare products.
Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick
A gentle, smart and luxurious stick cleanser inlaid with rose petals
I think I must have had the Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick on my wishlist for at least six months before I finally succumbed to the hype and decided to give it a try myself. This luxurious mild exfoliating cleanser is formulated with 90% natural ingredients, and I found it offers gentle cleansing with absolutely no stickiness or residue left behind – and, importantly for us sensitive types, no irritation. It leaves the skin thoroughly cleansed, soft and supple with a great hydrated glow all while banishing excess oil from those problematic areas. While Coconut and Olive oils can be two acne-triggering ingredients, I received nothing but positive feedback from acquaintances with oily and problematic skin types.
Since introducing this cleanser into my routine earlier this year, I have noticed a welcomed change in my complexion and a decrease in dryness and dehydration. The amazing results this cleanser provides, the heavenly light rose scent and the rose petals inlaid in the stick make my cleansing routine entirely more enjoyable, and the unique and fresh concept of a twist-up packaging makes it travel-friendly and full of advantage if like me you always have to deal with spills in your gym or travel bag.
Skin Saver Essential Cleansing Foam
A gentle cleanser for sensitive and delicate skin type
Another Su:m37 cleanser I absolutely swear by is the Skin Saver Essential Cleansing Foam. With its beautiful gel-type consistency and relaxing herbal scent, it calms and soothes skin, and is great for those with sensitive and delicate skin types. Dehydration and irritation is unfortunately something I have to deal with as I get older, and I find the Skin Saver Essential Cleansing Foam to performs beautifully on my sensitive dry skin as it increases skin’s resistance and minimizes any signs of irritation. Unlike your typical Korean cleanser this one leaves your skin feeling moisturized, baby smooth, soothed and refreshed but most importantly doesn’t feel at all stripping or drying on the skin. I have yet to purchase the gorgeous full-sized bottle, but since Su:m37 sent me 5 trial size tubes I won’t have to do it anytime soon.
A rich and luxurious skincare line aimed for mature and damaged skintype
The Su:m37 Secret Repair Set (Full size Essence + 5 miniatures) is available at Ebay.
Su:m37’s most famous product is undoubtedly the Secret Essence, a cult classic well-loved by both beauty fans and industry professionals. If you’re already a fan of SK-II Pitera Facial Treatment Essence or Hera Cell Essence, you’ll absolutely adore the Secret Essence. The formula works with a bunch of fermented ingredients and Niacinamide to make it a multi-benefit skincare treat, which deeply nourish the skin, restore moisture, quench skin’s thirst, brighten the complexion, and minimize skin’s sensitivity all while improving skin’s firmness and tone. My skin feels soft, supple and nourished after application, and it takes just a few seconds to absorb beautifully. I used to use it strictly at nighttime to let it works its magic overnight, but as my skin has become a little more dehydrated lately I now enjoy using it during the day too. Since using the Secret Essence, I haven’t experienced a major skin irritation in a long time. My mother, who’s in her 50s, has also confirmed it as a firm staple within her skincare routine.
Eye cream is one of those skincare products you can never be sure about. For the past two years I’ve stuck with the Laneige Water Bank Eye Cream due to its hydrating properties and weightless consistency, but also because most eye creams I have tried cause milia to form underneath my eyes. However, as time passes, I have noticed a not so welcomed change in my under eye area : fine lines, dark circles, and very dehydrated skin. The skin around my eyes was craving for richer moisturizing products, and the Su:m37 Secret Repair Programming Eye Cream came to the rescue. Since introducing this wondrous eye cream into my nighttime routine, I can see a visible difference in my fine lines and my under eye area is feeling more hydrated. As well as providing deep nourishment, the formula also contains anti-aging and firming ingredients.
That being said, this eye cream has an outrageously high price tag of 65$ for only 20ml, and even if the packaging is stunningly beautiful I wouldn’t recommend anyone to purchase a full-sized eye cream so expensive before trying it out for at least 2 weeks. There are plenty of samples available on Ebay for an enchantingly low price tag of… 12.92$. I admit that it can seem a little weird to pay for something that’s supposed to be free, but if you think about it you’ll get 30ml (30 pieces, 1ml each) of eye cream for only $12.90 instead of 20ml for $65, and one sample is more than enough for not one but two applications. But the best part is that you won’t have to dip your fingers in the jar, avoiding bacteria that would deteriorate the beneficial ingredients. For such an affordable price, it’s impossible to resist. (And because I’m so weak I ended up ordering the full size earlier today.)
Last Winter, I decided to improve my skincare game and to banish dryness for good with the Secret Repair Concentrated Cream. With a seriously rich and cream balm-like consistency, this cream will please those who, like me, have serious dryness and dehydration issues. Those with oilier skin will probably dislike the rich texture of it as a daytime moisturizer, but they will however certainly enjoy it as an overnight skin treatment as a rich nighttime moisturizer is an optimal way to replenish and give oily skin the nourishment and intense hydration it craves throughout the day. If you prefer lighter formulas, the emulsion of the same line is also a good pick.
I won’t bore you too much with the toner, Secret Repair Toner, not because I don’t find it worth it but because I find it to be very similar to the Secret Essence in terms of formula and consistency. It’s rich, sticky and definitely not your regular Western toner. Having said that, it’s still a good investment if you don’t find regular Asian lotions like the Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Lotion to be effective on your skin’s overall health, firmness and appearance.
The Secret Advanced Oil is the big daddy of all the facial oils I have in my skincare stash. Big on price, but also big on what it does for your skin! This luxurious beauty oil works to reveal a radiant, healthy and glowing complexion all while improving the condition of your skin by minimizing fine lines. When applied at the last step of your skincare routine, it locks in moisture and makes your entire skincare products much more potent and efficient. This Su:m37 offering is a truly gorgeous skincare treat, and I’ve noticed such a considerable difference in my overall complexion after using this product that I can confidently say it’s totally worth the investment.
A refreshing, hydrating and soothing skincare line aimed for problematic dehydrated skintype
I wouldn’t say my skin is truly problematic since I have dry dehydrated skin, but I do have a lot of blackheads and large pores on the nose, and in the warmer months my skin tends to become disgustingly greasy and congested. 90% of my skincare stash contains anti-aging, hydrating and skin-brightening products only, the 10% left being acids.
The Su:m37 Waterfull Set (Full Size Toner, Lotion & Cream) is available at StyleKorean.
During S/S 2016, I went through a troublesome phase with my skin where I kept breaking out because of the heat and noticed I didn’t have any “refreshing” skincare products at home. When I say refreshing, I mean…well, refreshing, but also somehow cooling and purifying, but definitely not drying. My first foray into “refreshing” skincare was with the Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Pore Toner, though it left me disappointed and underwhelmed by how little it did for my skin that Summer. The game-changer, however, was the Su:m37 Waterfull Rebalancing Gel Lotion. I initially purchased it for my brother, who has oily skin, but ended up trying it out of curiosity one day when the heat became a little too unbearable, and that was an excellent decision.
Described as a refreshing, soothing and hydrating lotion, the Waterfull Rebalancing Gel Lotion is one of the best liquid moisturizer for combination to oily skintype. The formula contains a lovely assortment of fermented plants and flowers extract such as Bamboo Water, Red Clover Flower, Gold Silver Flower and Hibicus Flower to deeply hydrate, nourish, calm and refresh the skin without clogging pores. It’s a beautiful lightweight moisturizing lotion with the most uplifting herbal and mint scent that leaves the skin feeling reinvigorated, refreshed and purified. In the warmer months, I love to pop it in the fridge for an extra boost of freshness!
I haven’t heard anyone ever talk about the toner, Waterfull Skin Refreshner, and I still wonder why. Like the Rebalancing Gel Lotion I mentioned above, I use this toner as a refreshing and purifying toner on days my skin is particularly greasy and congested. It leaves my skin feeling refreshed, hydrated and soft, and unlike a typical anti-trouble toner this one won’t leave my skin feeling quite tight and dry. That being said, keep in mind that it won’t do much for excessive sebum and whiteheads : the formula works to refresh, sooth and hydrate the skin only.
The Timeless Water Gel Cream was a product that came into my possession around 6 months ago, but as I was busy using up my beloved Laneige Water Bank Gel Cream I only began using it recently, and gosh! I absolutely adore it. With a dreamy formula jam-packed full of hydrating, anti-aging and soothing ingredients, this moisturizer is like the upgraded version of the Clinique Moisture Surge, or the Origins Make A Difference+ Rejuvenating Moisturizer! Those with drier skin will probably find it a little bit too lightweight for Wintertime and will reach out for the Moisturizing version instead, but they will undoubtedly appreciate it as a daily moisturizer in S/S. The Timeless Water Gel Cream feels cooling and refreshing upon application, and the skin is left hydrated supple and soft. Those with oily skin will certainly enjoy it all year long. It’s a truly divine, beautiful moisturizer for all skin type. And can we take a moment to appreciate the gorgeous packaging with the magnetized spatula? Just beautiful.
If there’s anything that makes me feel a little bit more relaxed during the week, it’s delving into a world of relaxation and pampering. I’m well aware of the hype surrounding overnight masks like the very much loved Origins Drink Up Intensive Mask or the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque these days, but for me the Su:m37 Waterfull Sleeping Mask is by far superior in every way. I bought it a few months ago in replacement of two other masks I had used up, the Origins and the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask, and I haven’t looked back. Packed with an array of dreamy ingredients, the formula works to give the skin a boost of moisture and hydration, but also to soften and even out the complexion overnight. I like to use it once or twice a week at the last step of my skincare routine to give my skin the boost of hydration that it’s crying out for, and in the morning my skin looks and feels wonderfully replenished and ready to face the day.
I mentioned earlier my love for the Secret Programming Eye Cream, so it should come as no surprise to you that I was going to mention the Waterfull Timeless Water Gel Eye Lifting Essence. Gosh, what a long name! The formula works to reduce the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles, decongest puffiness and minimize dark circles. Basically, everything you could ask for in an eye cream. I don’t suffer from dark circles and puffiness but I do have fine lines, and even though I haven’t been using this eye cream for too long I can already see a difference in their appearance. I use the Timeless Water Gel Eye Lifting Essence alone or in conjunction with the Secret Eye Cream, depending on my skin’s condition and mood. I love the weightless and refreshing texture of it, and how it instantly makes my eye area feels and looks more awake and refreshed. I agree that it does come with a hefty price tag, but you only need the very tiniest amount of product so the bottle will last you for a while. It’s totally worth the investment if, like me, you’re looking for a weightless, hydrating and refreshing eye serum to use under a richer cream, or if you simply prefer gel-type eye creams.
A repairing and moisturizing skincare line aimed for problematic skin
The Time Energy line is the newest addition to my skincare stash. Although primarily aimed at repairing, fortifying and moisturizing problematic (oily, combination, acne-prone) mature skin, the formulas also contain some nice dry skin pleasing ingredients.
The Su:m37 Time Energy Special Set (Full size Toner, Emulsion and Cream) is available at Ebay.
When I initially began using the Time Energy Resetting Refining Toner, I didn’t think anything of it and misjudged it for a regular, boring hydrating toner. I didn’t notice much of a difference to my skin at all, and it wasn’t until I stopped using it altogether for an entire week that I realized my skin was actually missing it. As of late, I’ve definitely been able to see and feel the benefits of the formula and enjoying the wonderful firming, softening and smoothing properties, and when used in conjunction with the emulsion the skin is looking clear, smooth and baby-soft in no time.
Moving onto the Time Energy Resetting Softening Emulsion, it is an almost cream-serum hybrid moisturizer that aims to keep the skin youthful, minimize sebum production and fortify skin cells against early ageing, and despite its very lightweight formula I find it really moisturizing. In fact, I’ve been using it as my sole daytime moisturizer for the past 10 days and gosh! I love it. The only downfall is the scent. Excuse my language, but this smells like an old fart! However, for the skin-smoothing qualities, I can let it slide.
The Skin Resetting Moist Firming Cream has become an absolute everyday staple in my S/S skincare routine. Although primarily aimed at oily and acne-prone skin, this divine deeply nourishing cream can also work wonders for dry and dehydrated skin. The formula is packed full of dreamy hydrating, nourishing, purifying, soothing, brightening and anti-ageing ingredients to repair the skin’s barrier and to prevent future moisture loss. I was expecting a rich, almost balm-like consistency but to my biggest surprise this cream is extremely lightweight and absorbs into the skin just seconds after application!
I find that less is more with this product : a thin layer of it is just enough to reap the beautiful skincare benefits. Truth be told, I don’t find this cream hydrating enough for my dry skin so I always top it with a richer cream or facial oil, but for those with oily skin this is absolutely perfect. If my skin is looking a little congested but dehydrated, I’ll mix a couple of drops of the Secret Repair Essence in and use it as an overnight treatment, and because of the lightweight consistency I don’t have to worry about going to bed with my skin feeling greasy or slippery. When I wake up the next morning, I can see a noticeable difference in the overall radiance of my complexion and in the smoothness of my skin. As you might have already guessed, this is my favourite product within the Time Energy line!
After weighing up a few choices, I’ve decided to add the Water Full Deep Effect Ampoule and the Flawless Regenerating Cream to my 2017 wishlist. I’ll probably bite the bullet and purchase them in the next few months. I have also yet to restock my Amazing Peeling Softener and Melting Cleansing Balm.
