I usually find pen liners a little bit uncomfortable to apply and not pigmented enough for my liking, but the Clio Waterproof Pen Liner changed my mind. I was originally contemplating the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner (which I also ended up buying), but the Clio seemed to be the most raved about pen liner within the K-beauty blogging community. The color is truly jet black, and the precise pen helps to achieve that perfect flick in a matter of seconds. It doesn’t fade or smudges all day long. While I’m far from mastering the art of winged eyeliner with pen liners, I’m slowly but surely getting better at it with the Clio Pen Liner.
Another Clio liner I’ve been loving is the Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liner in Golden Black. Unlike your typical black pencil liner, this one has tiny gold flakes in it. Not only does it make the eyes (especially brunettes’s) really pop, but it is also perfect for evening looks. I’ve also ditched wearing white eyeshadow or highlighter below my waterline and in the corner of my eyes, and use the shade Bloody Sweet instead. This really makes my brown eyes pop and stand out! For my waterline and tightline, I’ve been loving the Hera Eye Designer Pencil in Black. The color payoff is excellent, and it doesn’t smear at all. I bought it in replacement of the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On in Perversion, which wasn’t very sensitive eyes friendly and I find it to be far superior for tightlining.
Moving onto face makeup, I’ve discovered two new cushions this month and Gosh, I love them. First, we have the Etude House Any Cushion Cream Filter, which is a low-end/drugstore product. The formula is absolutely weightless yet moisturizing, and the skin just glows from within. It doesn’t settle into fine lines even without using a primer, and the light-diffusing matte finish makes it almost invisible on the skin. Even though it definitely hasn’t the highest coverage out there, it is definitely buildable to medium. I still find it impressive considering most Korean cushions are on the sheer side. I picked up the shade 22 Sand, and it’s a perfect match for my NC20 skin.
The second cushion is on the high-end side, and it’s the Hera Black Cushion. The CC Cream and UV Mist Ultra Moisture Cushion counterparts have been two favorites of mine for a good couple of years now, so I knew the Black Cushion wasn’t going to disappoint me. Fusing skincare with makeup, this beautiful offering has a semi-matte powdery finish and full coverage, yet leaves the skin looking plump and youthful thanks to its anti-aging ingredients. Can we just take a moment to appreciate the stunning and effortlessly chic black and gold packaging?
Another Hera offering I’ve been loving this month is the Aquabolic Hydro Gel Cream. I received it a few weeks before it’s official release, but I’ve only started using it recently. The weightless formula is truly beautiful – as expected from Hera – and I absolutely love using it, but unfortunately I will not purchase it with my own money as it is not vegan. Upon checking the ingredient list I noticed there is cholesterol in it, and it’s definitely an animal-derived ingredient. I’m extremely disappointed, especially since I love this cream so much.
I don’t really have dark circles or puffy eyes even on those nights where I haven’t managed to get a good night of sleep, but I do have very dry and dehydrated under eyes area and fine lines. This is where the Laneige Eye Sleeping Mask comes to the rescue. The formula contains hydrating, soothing and brightening ingredients that help relieve tired and puffy eyes while you sleep. I’ve been having trouble sleeping lately because of the heat, and I find the Eye Sleeping Mask to be the perfect pick-me-up. I just love to keep it stored in my fridge and massage my eye area with the cooling ceramic rollerball every night. So refreshing!
Lastly, we have the Laneige Fresh Calming Morning Mask. This is actually a hydrating and soothing leave-on mask to use in the morning for combination and oily skin, with a very unexpected mousse texture. On mornings my skin is looking particularly oily, greasy and congested, this is my go-to skincare product. I use it right after my toner, instead of a serum, and underneath my daily moisturizer. Laneige actually recommends to keep this leave-on mask in the fridge, and the cooling and refreshing sensation is just wonderful to combat the heat.
