June 2017 Monthly Favorites
It goes without saying that the standout skincare treat of June goes to the Su:m37 Waterfull Timeless Water Gel Cream. I’ve been using this lightweight moisturizer almost every day for the past 3 months and it’s undoubtedly a staple in my S/S 2017 daily skincare routine. It contains some nice hydrating, moisturizing, anti-aging, brightening AND sebum-reducing ingredients, which is perfect since I can’t be bothered with an entire skincare routine right now. Lately, I’ve been using it in conjunction with the Waterfull Skin Refresher, and this is my go-to duo whenever my skin is feeling congested and greasy because of the heat. The tingling, cooling sensation of this refreshing water is just what I need for a quick pick-me-up. I’ve already published a full review of these two products here!
Another lightweight moisturizer I’m currently loving is the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Aqua Gel. We just got back from a week in Italy, and I’ve pretty much used it every day. It’s nothing special and there are plenty of far superior moisturizers on the market, but if you’re on a budget or if like me you hate traveling with expensive skincare bits, it does the job. I also love to pop it in the fridge for a few minutes and use it as a refreshing and cooling facial mask.
Mists and cleansing waters are my savior when the heat becomes unbearable. Right now it’s thirty-five degrees outside, and I don’t know what I would do without the Son&Park Beauty Water and the Etude House Ion Water Coconut Hydrating Serum Mist. I use the first throughout the day as a cleansing water to refresh my skin and get rid of the sebum and sweat, and the latter as a soothing mist.
Protecting my skin from the sun is important no matter the season, and my current go-to sunscreen is the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Gel. Most sunscreens can be hard to blend into the skin and usually leave a greasy white cast, but this one is extremely lightweight and applies like a dream! It feels like a serum on the skin and I just can’t imagine myself straying away from it. Biore reformulated this sunscreen earlier this year, and the new formula slightly leaves a white cast and is slightly thicker than the old version. I don’t really mind it, but just so you know. Another sunscreen I’ve been loving is the Etude House Sunprise Must Daily SPF50. Texture-wise it’s similar to the old Biore Watery Gel version, and it’s cheap.
Lastly, I am in love with the Clio Water Me Pls BB. This is undoubtedly the most lightweight base I have ever purchased, and the runny gel-like consistency makes it a dream to apply. If coverage is what you’re after I definitely wouldn’t recommend this, but if like me you just want to even out your complexion and add a little bit of glow this is perfect. The only downside is that it only comes in one shade, even though I can’t really complain about it since it is a perfect match for my NC20 skin.
